Hunting Matthew Nichols

This feature film blurs the lines between documentary, true-crime, found-footage, and traditional scripted scenes to take the viewer on an unexpected journey. Our score blends elements from these genres while weaving themes and a consistent sonic palette that builds and evolves to a remarkable climax.

Hunting Matthew Nichols had its World Premiere at the NEWPORT BEACH FILM FESTIVAL in October 2024 and has been selected for a number of other festivals including FILMQUEST (Utah), NIGHTMARES (Ohio), BLOOD IN THE SNOW (Toronto) and the WHISTLER FILM FESTIVAL (Whistler) in the coming months.

RECENT TV PLACEMENTS

Over the past year Duophonik's original music has been used around the world including in the UK, France, Australia, Germany, Austria and Denmark on networks such as the BBC, ITV, Virgin, and My5.

Shows include ITV's TONIGHT news magazine program, Cold Case Killers, Grand Indian Hotel, Walking Wartime England and the feature-length documentaries Ukraine's War: The Other Side, Sheri Papin Lies Lies and More Lies and Kate Garraway: Derek's Story.

The Bridge

This song The Bridge was written and recorded in early January 2023 in our Victoria studio to start the new year by getting back to our roots. We were fortunate to have the cameras rolling for the recording.

Two is better than one.

Jeff and Chris have their own unique styles and forms of musical expression. Chris has extensive experience in musical theatre writing and performing with live musicians and singers while Jeff has a more studio-focused and experimental approach to recording and electronic instruments. These two approaches complement each other with a constant push-pull of ideas.

With their shared love of beautiful melodies and performing together, the resulting music is thoughtful, lush and emotional.

  • Chris and Jeff produced a wide variety of original music ranging from cinematic to jazz themes and even an edgy Tom Waits inspired rhythmic song for a multi-day outdoor event. They also produced a team of voice over actors and mixed in a variety of formats. The event was a total success and was renewed for a second year. During the programming we listened to the audio hundreds if not thousands of times and it never got old. We look forward to the next project we can invite Duophonik to contribute to.
